Enable Single-Socket CPU Topology
Overview
The Enable Single-Socket CPU Topology setting makes sure that KVM-backed VPS products use a single-socket CPU topology when customers choose a vCPU count.
By default, when a product has a vCPU configurable option, WHMCS only sends that value. SolusVM creates a KVM VPS with that many sockets and cores. With this setting, the module creates it with one socket and the number of vCPUs as cores.
Note:
- This setting applies to KVM-backed products only. If you enable it on a VZ-backed product, SolusVM will silently ignore the setting.
- The setting is available in the WHMCS SolusVM 2 VPS module starting from version 1.0.66. Update the module to this version or later to access this functionality.
Enable this setting if your KVM plans already use a single-socket topology.
Enable single-socket CPU topology
To enable the setting for a product:
- Log in to the WHMCS Admin Area.
- Navigate to Configuration > System Settings > Products/Services.
- Click Edit for the product that uses the SolusVM 2 VPS server module.
- Select the Module Settings tab.
- Set the Enable Single-Socket CPU Topology setting to Yes.
- Click Save Changes.
vCPU updates
The module keeps the single-socket topology when a customer changes the vCPU option on an existing VPS. This applies only while the setting is enabled.
For example, a VPS has one socket and four cores. After the customer upgrades to eight vCPUs, it has one socket and eight cores.
Note:
The module does not apply configurable options when a customer changes the service’s product. Use the vCPU option to change the CPU resources of an existing VPS.
