SolusVM Billing Integration

Overview#

You can integrate SolusVM with billing systems to charge customers for virtual servers and services. SolusVM supports prepaid and postpaid billing methods, and you can charge for the following services:

• Virtual server runtime (hours or months)
• Backups

Billing is a complex task, which SolusVM delegates to external billing systems. The market offers a range of available billing solutions, such as WHMCS, Blesta, Hostbill, and Ubersmith.

Billing methods#

SolusVM supports the following billing methods:

• Prepaid billing — Customers pay in advance for the services you provide. The payment is monthly, recurrent, and fixed. It does not depend on the amount of consumed resources (within the selected offer). Customers receive the SolusVM services but they do not have access to the SolusVM interface.

• Postpaid billing — Customers pay only after the services are provided. Customers can pay per hour of consumed resources (hourly billing) or they can pay a fixed monthly price (monthly billing). Unlike prepaid billing, customers receive access to the part of the SolusVM interface called the user area.

Choose a billing system#

Billing integration differs depending on the billing system you choose: WHMCS or another billing system. The easiest way to integrate billing is by choosing WHMCS. To integrate WHMCS and SolusVM, we created the SolusVM addon for WHMCS. With this addon, you can configure both prepaid and postpaid billing models.
