Operating Systems¶
Operating Systems (and Applications) serve as templates for configuring virtual machines (VMs). Use these templates to standardize VM deployment and maintenance.
To view available Operating Systems or create new ones, navigate to:
Images → Operating Systems
Operating Systems provided by Solus are organized into Operating System Families, each containing multiple Operating System Versions.
Managing Default VM Settings for Operating Systems¶
Each KVM Operating System Version allows you to set the default Disk Driver and Firmware options. These settings apply automatically to:
- Newly created VMs using the selected Operating System Version.
- VMs reinstalled using this Operating System Version.
Note: Changing these default settings after VM creation will not affect existing VMs.
Available Disk Drivers:
scsi
virtio
ide
sata
If you don't select a specific disk driver, the default setting configured under Settings → Compute Resources → Virtual Server Disk Driver is applied.

bios
