Introduction to SolusVM and common notation & glossary

Solus Virtual Manager (SolusVM) is a powerful GUI based VPS management system with full OpenVZ, Linux KVM, Xen Paravirtualization and Xen HVM support. SolusVM allows you and your clients to manage a VPS cluster with security & ease.

Refer to the table below regarding common notation & glossary.

Word Definition
SolusVM Master node The server where SolusVM Master software is installed. It contains graphical user interface and API interface for managing the infrastructure and creating virtual servers.
SolusVM Slave node The server where SolusVM Slave software is installed. This server is using for actual VPS hosting and contains API interface for interacting with SolusVM Master node only.
IP Block The list of IP addresses with the gateway and subnet mask. IP addresses from this pool are assigned to virtual servers.
Volume group The Volume Group is the highest level abstraction used within the LVM. It is a must for KVM and Xen virtualization.
LVM Logical volume. Is created from the volume group and used for storing the data of VPS for KVM and Xen virtualization.
Template The pre-created cache that is used for creation of virtual servers.
